Julie pulls from an array of presentations which she, herself, has created. The presentations are geared toward a specific age range, as speaking to a child in Pre-Kindergarten is very different from speaking to a child in Fifth Grade. However, all presentations involve the reading of a book.

Julie will consult with the teacher, media specialist, and/or principal to determine what they are interested in accomplishing for their school or individual classrooms. Below you will find the presentation timing and contents for each grade level.

  • Pre-K, Kindergarten, and 1st Grade Classes (20-25 Minutes Average)
    • Explain who Lilly the Lash is and talk in brief about her book series.
    • Provide an animated reading of one of the books in the series.
    • Discuss the theme/lesson; as students express and acknowledge their opinions.
    • Review some of the basic values that Lilly the Lash teaches - Respect, Responsibility, Sharing, Honesty - students discuss where they learn these lessons in daily life.
  • 2nd and 3rd Grade Classes (45 Minutes Average)
    • Explain who Lilly the Lash is and what lessons she'll be teaching in her book series.
    • An interactive discussion regarding self-esteem and differences is generated.
    • Provide an animated reading of one of the books in the series.
    • Briefly explain how Lilly the Lash came to be and becoming an author followed.
    • Discuss the advantages of using your imagination to write creative and fun stories.
    • Offer a strategy to uncover new storylines with ease.
    • Question and answer period to cover any author related inquiries.
  • 4th and 5th Grade Classes (45 Minutes Average)
    • Explain who Lilly the Lash is and what lessons she'll be teaching in her book series.
    • Through example, students understand and express ways to build self-esteem.
    • Provide an animated reading of one of the books in the series.
    • Explain how Lilly the Lash came to be and what steps led to the series' creation.
    • Explore the benefits of utilizing adjectives, adverbs, and verbs to improve a story.
    • Show in detail how Lilly the Lash was designed and how the illustrations are made.
    • Question and answer period regarding the life of an author, the importance of reading, the fun of writing, using creative thinking, etc.

Depending on the grade level, some or all of the following elements are addressed in the presentations:

  • The meaning of self-esteem and its importance.
  • The life lessons Lilly the Lash will cover in her series.
  • The value of reading and writing.
  • The three main parts of a story.
  • How Lilly the Lash came to be.
  • The basic outline of self-publishing a book.
  • A segment explaining the creation and development of the Lilly the Lash character.
  • The sketches that eventually resulted in the pages of the book.



Julie Woik has fascinating presentations for clubs and organizations of all types.
